Mountaineering, advanced course on snow or ice gullies, Chamonix

- Spring programme : 4 days, Mont Blanc group, departures each Thursday from 13th April till 11th May 2017, one French Mountain Guide for 2 climbers, PRICE 1,391 Euros. We will practise backcountry skiing to reach the starting points of the ascents, and we will finish this course by skiing down Vallée Blanche.

 

- Summer programme : 4 days , Mont Blanc group, departure each Thursday from 1st of June till 20 of July 2016, one French Mountain Guide for 2 climbers, PRICE 1,379 Euros. We will walk to reach the starting points of the ascents.

- General informations on the Spring programme : Cosmiques ridge (on the Aiguille du Midi peak), Midi-Plan ridge, Contamine-Labrunye route on Mont Blanc du Tacul, Tour Ronde North face or West gully, four beautiful altitude ascents to be climbed in Spring from the comfortable Cosmiques hut, finishing this course by skiing down Vallée Blanche. 

This course will get you used to safety and progress technics on snow and ice faces or gullies, to allow you to climb safely average difficulty summits as a leader, and to train you both physically and technically for the ascents (with a Mountain Guide as the roped party leader) of the most famous snow and ice climbs of the Alps.

To add speed to safety throughout the ascents of this course, we post one mountain guide for two climbers.

Your level:

 

to make the most of this program, you must have carried out several ascents of easy difficulty at altitude (snow gullies with slopes from 30 to 40 degrees, average  difficulty rock climbing), as Hörnli ridge on the Matterhorn or Zinalrothorn ridge (Switzerland), or as the ascent of Mont-Blanc by the Three Mont-Blanc route (France), and thus apply correctly the basic techniques with crampons on ascents, descents and crossings.

 

fitness level 

: you are in very good shape, practizing 3 times a week outdoor and endurance sports. Throughout the ascents of this course, it is vital to climb quite fast, and your fitness must be up to standard.

 

For the Spring programme, you must be a good skier, having a little experience in Backcountry skiing, as you will practise backcountry skiing to reach the starting points of the ascents, and as you will finish this course by skiing down Vallée Blanche.

Summer Programme: Meeting point in Chamonix, at the Montenvers train station, at 7.30 a.m., ice climbing school (specific training on steep slopes) on the " Mer de Glace ", cable car to Balme, " Albert 1er " hut / Table gully, on the Aiguille du Tour Peak (3542 m), Trient hut / Copt gully on the Aiguilles Dorées Peaks (3509 m), Albert 1er hut / Forbes ridge on Chardonnet Peak (3842 m), Albert 1er hut, Chamonix.
